Communities of Faith, Serving the Community of Lee’s Summit

The Lee's Summit Ministerial Alliance is a group of ministers and churches from across our city's faith traditions, formed to provide for the needs of Lee's Summit, to dialogue and fellowship with one another in faith, and to further unity, peace, and love in our community.

We are community of church leaders, not as competitors for the same neighborhood, but as one circle of care for it. Each month we gather for prayer and planning; throughout the year we worship together across denominational lines; and every day, our member churches stand ready to help a neighbor in need, whether that's a family short on rent this month or a traveler passing through Lee's Summit who just needs enough gas to get home.

Who We Are

The Lee's Summit Ministerial Alliance (LSMA) is a fellowship of ministers and church leaders representing many faith traditions in our city — Lutheran, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Latter-day Saints, non-denominational, and many more — alongside eight community partner organizations focused on housing, social services, and youth outreach. What holds us together isn't shared doctrine; it's a shared conviction that Lee's Summit is stronger when its churches show up for one another and for their neighbors.

What We Do

We serve our community in five distinct ways, guided by the energy and prayerful discernment of our member congregations and community partners.

Monthly Leader Meeting
Each month, clergy and ministry leaders from across Lee's Summit gather for prayer, community updates, and event planning; a standing rhythm of connection that keeps our congregations working together instead of in isolation. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, September through May, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at ProDeo Youth Center (214 NE Chipman Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64063)

Our first gathering of the new program year will take place Thursday, September 10, 2026 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church downtown, 9:00–10:30 AM. Clergy and ministry leaders are always welcome; to be added to our monthly email list, reach out through our Contact page.

Public Worship
A handful of times each year, we set our individual pulpits aside and worship as one city. These ecumenical services are hosted by member congregations and open to the public, designed so that people from any tradition can take part:

• Thanksgiving Service
• Week of Christian Unity Service
• Good Friday Worship
• Baccalaureate, honoring graduating seniors from all three Lee's Summit high schools

Community Partner Witness
Lee's Summit is full of extraordinary nonprofits and helpers, and we consider it a privilege to give them a platform. We regularly invite community partners into our monthly gatherings, share their updates with our member congregations, and help publicize the events and needs of the organizations doing this work every day.

Community-Based Assistance
This is the heart of our ministry, and where the majority of our funds go each year. The LSMA maintains a listserv connecting our member congregations so that when someone in our community needs help with rent, utilities, or another urgent need, our churches can collaborate rather than each starting from scratch. We also supply gas and grocery gift cards directly to our member congregations, so that when someone walks through a church door in need — a neighbor facing a hard month, or a traveler passing through with nowhere else to turn — there's already help on hand. We believe we're called to help fellow travelers, whoever they may be.

Annual Fundraiser
Our primary fundraiser in recent years has been a community Culver's Night. The proceeds go mostly toward the community assistance described above, with a small portion supporting our basic administrative costs. Watch our Facebook page and email list for details on the next one.
